Why is the app called ‘Top Soccer Fan’ when the game is generally referred to as ‘Football’? 

* We had to consider names of other applications, website domains and social media accounts that already existed, 

and a name/phrase which contained ‘Football’ was extremely hard to come by across all platforms. 

* Abbreviation ‘TFF’ already indexed high across search engines (Telegraph Fantasy Football) and ‘TSF’ quickly 

became a more appropriate option to help us make the app stand apart. 

* The term ‘Soccer’ is considered global (and this is a global app) but for the more discerning fan, we believe ‘Soccer’ 

has become more accepted due to well-established very successful TV programmes such as ‘Soccer AM’ and 

‘Soccer Saturday’ on Sky TV for example. 

When will the app be available for Android devices? 

* Android is anticipated to be ready by April 2016. 

Do you have a website?

What is the reasoning behind the colour scheme/branding of the TSF app? 

* Chosen to minimise any association to a particular football strip or club colours, we are striving to remain neutral. 

Functionality 

How can I find out how I accumulate points within the app? 

* To access the ‘Achievements Info’ for points/reward allocation,s touch any category icon in the app or the ‘Overall 

Acheivements’ bar in your Profile tab. 

How do I flag or report inappropriate pictures or comments? 

* For each post made there is a ‘Flag’ icon (far right) which when selected will offer 4 options against which a user 

can flag the post. TSF admin will be notified and action will be taken accordingly. 

How is my location verified for a Stadium Checkin? 

* Your mobile device will geolocate using its Location Service GPS facility, it must be detected at the stadium within 

the ‘Checkin’ timeframe (between 30mins pre-kickoff and 1hr 50mins post-kickoff of scheduled KO time) 

* If both those elements are true, you will be offered a ‘Stadium Checkin’. If geolocation is false, you will be offered 

TV or Radio Checkin only. 

Features 

What leagues/competitions are covered? 

* This can be checked via the Browse tab, select ‘Leagues’ and a list of club/country leagues/competitions will be 

provided. All major leagues are included, as are World Cup and Euros international competitions. 

Will more leagues be added? 

* That is certainly our intention and aspiration. We want to add Women’s and Tier 5/6 non-league fixtures (UK 

National Leagues) sometime in the future. 

What features are coming next? 

* A filter for matches ‘Checked-In’. 

* In Match Details, who you chose for MOTM and your result prediction choice. 

* An opportunity to benefit from offers. 

What is the difference between a team/country I support and one added as a favourite? 

* The team(s) and country you support show your fan affiliation. 

* The team(s) and country(ies) you favourite will appear in your filtered tabs within the app. 

What is the difference between a team/country with an orange star and a green star? 

* Green = supported 

* Orange = favourited 

How can I navigate to a ground via the Top Soccer Fan app when I need directions? 

* Touch a club badge or browse for your team, then touch the Stadium image at the bottom of the ‘Info’ tab. 

* Then, touch the map arrow to show the stadium location on a static map. 

* Then, touch the i information button next to the stadium name, this will offer the opportunity to open in Maps. 

* Touch the Arrow bottom left to navigate from current location to the Stadium. 

How do I find all the matched a particular player has featured in? 

* Browse – Players - <name> - Matches 

How do I find matches played in a particular stadium? 

* Browse – Team – <name> - Stadium - Matches 

How do I filter whose posts I see when Checked In? 

* Check-in tab or Matches tab = view ALL other TSF users commenting on the game. 

* Feeds tab = view posts of those you either follow or are following you. 

* Profile tab = view you own posts and activities only. 

How do I recommend or request new features? 

* Via our social media profiles or by contacting TSF admin. 

What do the Leaderboard filters indicate? 

* Last <week/month/year> = TSF User with the highest overall lifetime total up to and including the last day in the 

period selected. 

* This <week/month/year> = TSF User that has the most point within the period selected (not an overall lifetime 

total) 

* All Time = No filters applied 

* Touch the individual category icons to sort points on that category and reorder the leaderboard accordingly. 

When can I Checkin to a match? 

* From 30 minutes prior to a scheduled kickoff. 

When can I Checkout of a match? 

* Up to 24 hours after the scheduled Kickoff time. 

What happens if I forget to Checkout of a match? 

* The app will conduct a silent checkout 24 hours after the scheduled kickoff. You will not receive any credit for your 

Checkin activities if you forget to Checkout . 

When can I make match result predictions? 

* Up to 5 minutes prior to scheduled kickoff. The app will withdraw the result prediction buttons at that point and 

you will only see others’ vote numbers and predictions. 

Why didn’t I get the option to rate Man Of The Match upon Checkout? 

* You may have checked out of a game too early and the data hadn’t been loaded for that particular fixture at the 

time of you Checkout. 

Can I select a MOTM for each team? 

* Yes. Please select one MOTM from each team after each Checkin. You can also rate them out of 5 to reflect their 

performance. (ie MOTM but still only a 3 out of 5 performance). 

What do the abbreviations for matches listed in the Matches Tab mean? 

* NS – No Score available (can be caused by an interruption in the service). 

* F – Finished 

* P – Postponed 

* A – Abandoned 

* C - Cancelled 

* ET1H – Extra Time 1st half 

* ET2H – Extra Time 2nd half 

* FAET – Finished After Extra Time 

* FAP – Finished After Penalties (shows score and scorers including penalty shoot out). 

Can I Checkin to more than one game at the same time? 

* No. A previous Checkin period must expire in full (1hr 50mins after scheduled Kick-off) and be Checked out of, 

prior to a user Checking in to another game. 

Do all leagues/competitions listed have the same level of detail on offer? 

* No. The match data is sourced through a third party and although the leagues and cup competitions span the 

footballing globe, the extent of detail available ranges widely dependent upon the popularity, profile and 

availability of data for the leagues/competitions in question. 

* If a country used as search criteria doesn’t have leagues/competitions featured in the app, the results will only 

return listed players registered to that country. 

How are player ratings details recorded and used? 

* They are currently stored in the backend database but will be associated with player details in a future release. The 

ratings factor into the MOTM ratings also, when there is a tie, the player with the higher rating for that game will 

prevail as the chosen MOTM. 

How do I filter on matches I have Checked-In to? 

* On your profile tab, you can scroll through your activities to see which matches you have checked in to and all 

associated actions/content added as part of that CheckIn. 

How regularly are the match details updated? 

* Scores on average are updated approximately every 15 minutes but this is dependent upon network activity and 

access to the third party data store. At very busy periods this can take longer to catch-up but this is something we 

are looking to continually monitor and optimise as the User base increases and therefore the performance at scale 

is better understood. 

* The app is not intended as a news service as its USP, there are much better apps available for score updates, we 

just offer the scores as a supplementary feature to the main Checkin/Checkout, Fan Interaction, Predictions and 

Gamification, plus the diary/journal elements of the TSF app. 

* Full match details start becoming available once the Checkin period has expired. Upon App refresh the fixture will 

disappear from the Checkin tab, but via the Matches tab the same fixture can be selected where the match details 

will be available. A user can continue to monitor in-game activities via this way too. 

When do I get the option to review a Stadium? 

* When you ‘Checkout’ following a ‘Stadium Checkin’ only, you will be given the option to leave a stadium review. 

What do the Stadium Review categories mean? 

* Atmosphere 

Rate your view on the match-day atmosphere 

* Food & Drinks Quality / Value 

Rate your view on the quality and value for money of the food and drink purchased at the ground 

* Access 

Rate your view on your experience accessing and leaving the ground ie available parking, distance/time from 

parking or nearest public transport, distance to walk. 

* Facilities 

Rate your view on the ground facilities ie access and cleanliness of toilets, access to food/drink bars and ticket 

offices. 

* Treatment 

Rate the friendliness, and how respectfully and fairly you feel you were treated by club officials, stewards and 

security staff. 

* Safety 

Rate your view on how safe you felt whilst you were inside, approaching and leaving the stadium. 

* Ticket Price 

Rate your view on the cost of your ticket price against your overall match-day experience. 

* General Comments 

You will have the option to provide more detail for any ratings expressed in the Stadium Review, should you wish to 

do so. 

How is the Stadium Review information used/featured within the app? 

* Touch a club badge or browse for your team, then touch the Stadium image at the bottom of the ‘Info’ tab. Then 

under the ‘Reviews’ tab, the aggregated results from all TSF User reviews (Stadium Checkin/Checkout only) for that 

stadium will appear here. 

How do I access Team information? 

* Touch a club badge or browse for your team. 

Why haven’t my correct result prediction points shown up in my profile yet? 

* On occasions, these can take up to 24 hours to update, depending upon how busy the TSF network is with active 

fixtures. The results have to be verified prior to point allocation. 

Can I push my comments and pictures to social media? 

* Yes. Users can share activities across most smart-phone communications platforms and social media applications. 

Messaging, Mail, Notes, Twitter, Facebook, Messenger, other apps loaded on your smart-phone which you can 

activate via the ‘More’ button when you select the ‘Share’ icon and select ‘social media’. 

How do I find a fixture if it is not listed in the main ‘Matches’ tab? 

* Use the ‘Search’ option in the ‘Matches’ tab, select the team and date range of interest to return matches that on 

rare occasions are not listed. Select the fixture to proceed to Checkin or Match Details. 

* Via the ‘Browse’ tab, select ‘Team’ or ‘League’, search for team of interest, select ‘Matches’ tab associated with 

that team and finally select the fixture to proceed to Checkin or Match Details. 

Can I edit my match result prediction? 

* No, You have one chance so choose carefully.

Why is my postcode/location requested? (optional) 

* So that we can effectively and responsibly moderate and operate the application across all its functions, with the 

intent to protect and optimise our service for all fans. 

* So that we can gain an appreciation of the broad demographic of the user base. 

* At some time in the future we hope to be in a position to where we can run competitions and reward different 

categories and footballing affiliations to different clubs/countries. Fully completed profiles would be required for 

such times (in line with the app terms and conditions). 

Why do I provide clubs and country I support? 

* So that we can gain an appreciation of the broad demographic of the user base. 

* At some time in the future we hope to be in a position to where we can run competitions and reward different 

categories and footballing affiliations to different clubs/countries. Fully completed profiles would be required for 

such times (in line with the app terms and conditions). 

What options do I have to set up an account and login to Top Soccer Fan? 

* Using an Email address and password 

* Using your Facebook Login credentials. 

What do I do if I forget my password? 

* You can request a password reset automatically but ONLY IF YOU HAVE PROVIDED A VALID EMAIL as part of your 

TSF profile details. 

Why is my Year of Birth requested? (optional) 

* So that we can effectively and responsibly moderate and operate the application across all its functions, with the 

intent to protect and optimise our service for all fans. 

* So that we can gain an appreciation of the broad demographic of the user base. 

* At some time in the future we hope to be in a position to where we can run competitions and reward different 

categories and footballing affiliations to different clubs/countries. Fully completed profiles would be required for 

such times (in line with the app terms and conditions). 

Why is my email address requested? (optional) 

* To simplify the password reset process. 

* So that we can effectively and responsibly moderate and operate the application across all its functions, with the 

intent to protect and optimise our service for all fans. 

* At some time in the future we hope to be in a position to where we can run competitions and reward different 

categories and footballing affiliations to different clubs/countries. Fully completed profiles would be required for 

such times (in line with the app terms and conditions). 

Can I change the Country and Teams that I support? 

* No. This is selected at sign up and is considered a lifetime choice. 

* If you have entered a country or club in error, please contact TSF admin and we can look into correcting your 

selection.
